Understanding Your Insights

The Insights page of your project shows how many people see your consent banner, what they choose, and which signals your tags receive. Open it from your project in the dashboard.

Summary Cards

CardWhat it shows
UsersUnique visitors in the period. Counts are exact for smaller sites and within about 1% for large ones.
Ads allowed, all usersVisitors whose choice or policy allows personalized ads, out of all visitors.
Consent rateFor opt-in policies such as GDPR: visitors who consented, out of those who made a choice. Visitors who never choose, bots among them, are left out.
Choice rateFor opt-in policies: visitors who made a choice, out of all their visitors. A sudden drop usually means bot traffic or a banner that is not showing.
Opt-out rateFor opt-out policies such as CCPA and US State Privacy: visitors who opted out themselves, out of those who made a choice.
Automatic opt-outsUS visitors opted out by the browser's Global Privacy Control signal or, in apps, the device's ad tracking setting.

Click the ? next to a card for its definition. A rate based on fewer than 30 choices shows Not enough choices.

  • Visitors (Users for apps): unique visitors per policy for each day or month. Switch between Users, Banner shown, Accepted, and Rejected or opted out.
  • Rate: the consent rate of each opt-in policy and the opt-out rate of each opt-out policy over time.

Apps

For app projects, the page counts users instead of visitors. Consent rates count the users who opened the consent screen, because the screen only runs when it opens. US users are not asked at launch, so most US users of an app have no choice.

Reading the Numbers

  • After you set up the CMP, your analytics and advertising reports show less data from visitors who decline. Compare the drop with the consent rate here: a drop in line with it is expected. A much larger drop usually means a tag is blocked completely or does not receive the consent signal. See the setup guides for publishers, ecommerce, SaaS and marketing websites and mobile apps.
  • A sudden drop in the choice rate usually means bot traffic, or a banner that does not show.
  • Ads allowed is what your advertising partners can personalize for. Raising your consent rate, for example with a clearer banner, raises it too. See Custom Banner Styling.
  • To keep a record of each visitor's choice, use Consent Logging.
